Canada’s Safest Employer Awards

We had a great time working with Canada’s Safest Workplace and the incredible team at Tinhorn Creek Winery in Penticton to create a video highlighting their safety programs and culture, as 2016 recipients of the Canada’s Safest Workplace Award.

Launched in 2011, Canada’s Safest Employers awards recognise companies from all across Canada with outstanding accomplishments in promoting the health and safety of their workers. The awards boasts 10 industry-specific categories, ranging from hospitality to mining and natural resources. Companies are judged on a wide range of occupational health and safety elements, including employee training, OHS management systems, incident investigation, emergency preparedness and innovative health and safety initiatives.

We love the innovative methods at Tinhorn Creek Winery. The mantra at Tinhorn is safe people are happy people, and the winery is entering year three of its “serious plan for workplace health and safety.” The winery team recently received an Occupational Safety Standard of Excellence certification, the first small business in B.C.’s food manufacturing industry to do so.

There have been many other firsts at Tinhorn: it is also the first carbon neutral certified winery in B.C.

There is a huge commitment to hiring and buying local at Tinhorn to help it stay rooted in the community. It’s no wonder the average employee has been around over six years.
